ABC News has officially suspended Senior National Correspondent Terry Moran following a late-night post on X (formerly Twitter) where he launched a fiery personal attack on White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, describing him as “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred” and a “world‑class hater”.

In a now-deleted post, Moran wrote:

“It’s not brains. It’s bile. Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He eats his hate.”

He didn’t stop there—Moran also lumped Trump into the same category, calling him another “world‑class hater,” though he argued Trump’s animosity is merely a tool for self-aggrandizement.

ABC’s Stance

A network spokesperson stressed that Moran’s remarks violated ABC’s standards of impartiality and objectivity, calling them “subjective personal attacks” that don’t reflect the values of the newsroom. His suspension, effective immediately, is “pending further evaluation.”

Political Backlash

• White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt labeled Moran’s post “unhinged and unacceptable,” confirming that the White House has reached out to ABC for accountability.

• Vice President J.D. Vance took to X as well, branding Moran’s post an “absolutely vile smear” and declaring the commentary was “dripping with hatred”.

• Stephen Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, demanded Moran’s termination, accusing him of “propaganda under the guise of righteousness”.

What It Means

• This isn’t the first clash between ABC and the Trump administration: the network recently settled a $15 million defamation suit with Trump over George Stephanopoulos's reporting.

• Suspensions of ABC journalists have precedent—Brian Ross was suspended in 2017 for a major reporting error.

• For Moran, in the role of senior national correspondent and former White House and foreign correspondent, this is a notable hit to his career—especially after securing interviews with Trump earlier this year.
