While the nation watches Los Angeles burn under militarized immigration enforcement, the resistance isn’t stopping there. From New York to Texas to Massachusetts, communities are making one thing clear: ICE isn’t welcome, and this fight is far from over.
New York City, NY – Protest at 26 Federal Plaza
Lower Manhattan lit up with resistance as demonstrators surrounded ICE vehicles outside 26 Federal Plaza, one of the busiest immigration court buildings in the country. This was no coincidence—it was a coordinated act of defiance aimed at halting the machinery of detention and deportation in its tracks.
At least 9 protesters were arrested after clashing with NYPD officers who were reportedly guarding ICE transport vans. Eyewitnesses say the arrests were aggressive, with some people shoved into barricades. Advocates on the ground called it a deliberate attempt to intimidate peaceful demonstrators.
“This isn’t just about immigration. It’s about who we are willing to let the government disappear next.” – Protestor outside 26 Federal
San Antonio, TX – 300 March on City Hall
Down south, San Antonio turned up the heat. On June 8, more than 300 people marched to City Hall, calling out ICE for its most recent courthouse arrests—some of which allegedly involved people being detained during scheduled immigration hearings.
The crowd included community leaders, clergy, and members of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, all demanding an end to these tactics and calling for the abolition of ICE altogether.
“Due process doesn’t exist when ICE is waiting outside the courtroom like bounty hunters,” said one speaker.
Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket, MA – Island Raids Spark Local Uprising
You might not expect to find ICE raids on the quiet, wealthy shores of Martha’s Vineyard—but that’s exactly what happened.
In a coordinated multi-city raid, ICE agents swept across several Massachusetts locations, detaining around 40 undocumented immigrants on Martha’s Vineyard alone. The raid sent shockwaves through the island, causing some local businesses to temporarily shut down in protest or solidarity.
Residents are reporting widespread community trauma, with families afraid to leave their homes and schools scrambling to respond to anxious students. Local organizers say ICE’s tactics were not only excessive—they were deliberately traumatic.
“They waited until school drop-off. They knew what they were doing,” said a Vineyard teacher.
What Does This Mean?
The resistance to ICE is now coast to coast, and it’s not just activists in big cities anymore. From New York’s legal corridors to Texas city halls to the beachfront communities of Massachusetts—people are standing up. The message is loud: No more disappearances. No more terror. No more silence.
