First, What Just Happened?

Moments ago, the House officially passed the final version of Donald Trump’s sweeping new federal budget — the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Now, with both chambers of Congress approving it, all that remains is Trump’s signature — and make no mistake, he’s eager to sign.

“The House did the RIGHT thing — this bill is going to SAVE AMERICA. The weak courts and Woke hospitals are DONE. Signing soon. STAY TUNED.” — Truth Social, July 3

But behind the bill’s patriotic name and working-class slogans lies a legislative Trojan horse: one that guts healthcare, centralizes executive power, and rewards corporations for cruelty. What’s Actually in the Bill?

What They Brag About:

  • No federal income tax on overtime pay

  • Expanded child tax credits for middle-income families

  • Elimination of federal tax on Medicare and Medicaid benefits

  • Business tax incentives for hiring full-time U.S. citizens

These are the talking points you’ll hear on cable news. But they’re just the sugar coating on a rotten core.

Trillions in Tax Cuts for the Rich

  • $3.5 to $4.5 trillion in tax cuts over the next decade.

  • Extends and expands Trump-era tax breaks.

  • Eliminates taxes on overtime pay and tips—a nice talking point, but watch what’s coming next…

  • Raises SALT cap to $40,000—for the wealthiest homeowners.

Let’s be clear: Middle-class families save ~$650 a year.

Meanwhile, the top 0.1% get $200,000+ in tax breaks—every year.

Slashing Healthcare for Millions

  • $930 billion cut from Medicare and Medicaid over ten years.

  • New work requirements for Medicaid—even for single parents and disabled adults.

  • 17 million Americans are projected to lose healthcare.

But here’s what they’re really hiding:

These cuts will cripple rural hospitals, especially in states already on the edge. Medicaid is a lifeline for many smaller hospitals—when that funding dries up, they close permanently.

So, congrats! You don’t pay tax on your tips—but you lose your coverage for insulin, cancer treatment, dental work, and can’t deliver a baby within 90 miles. What a win.

Food Stamps? Slashed.

  • Cuts to SNAP by 30% (food stamps), with stricter work rules and asset tests.

  • If you’re struggling and working under-the-table or part-time? You’re out.

  • If you’re raising kids, caring for a sick parent, or recovering from injury? Still out.

Because apparently, feeding your kids is a luxury in Trump’s America.

More for Walls, Less for the People

  • $350 billion for border security and military buildup.

  • New money for border barriers, private ICE contractors, and surveillance infrastructure.

  • At the same time, Biden-era green energy tax credits are gutted—because who needs breathable air when billionaires need subsidies?

What They Don’t Want You to Notice: The Hidden Clauses

You think this is just about taxes and Medicaid? Look deeper. This bill sneaks in authoritarian claws that strip the courts and the people of power.

The Quiet Coup on the Judiciary

  • A clause in Section 3032 removes judicial oversight on federal spending disputes, meaning if the executive branch misuses or misallocates funds, federal courts are barred from intervening.

  • Another line gives expanded power to Trump’s newly appointed Oversight Office, which answers only to the Executive—not Congress, not even the Supreme Court.

Translation: Trump and his allies just neutered judicial review on budgetary issues. That’s not budget reform. That’s consolidation of power.

Privatization of Public Education (Section 804B)

This buried clause rewrites federal education funding formulas to:

  • Redirect Title I funds (meant for low-income public schools) to private and charter schools

  • Prioritize “school choice expansion” grants that go almost exclusively to for-profit institutions

  • Allow states to bypass public education standards if they declare a “state-led innovation pilot”

This is not about innovation. It’s a backdoor defunding of public schools, forcing closures and funneling students into private, unregulated alternatives — all while giving corporations a bigger slice of your kid’s education.

And it’s been intentionally buried — almost 830 pages in.

Rural Hospital Closures

Under Title V, the bill phases out federal rural health subsidies in states that didn’t meet new compliance benchmarks (a backdoor way to punish blue states and immigrant-heavy areas). Analysts estimate:

  • Over 800 rural hospitals are now at risk of closure

  • That includes maternity wards, emergency rooms, and cancer treatment centers

These aren’t just budget cuts. They’re death sentences for entire counties.

What This Means for You (If You’re Not a Billionaire)

If you’re low-income:

  • You’ll lose access to Medicaid or SNAP if you can’t meet new work rules.

  • You’ll pay more out-of-pocket for medical care, or go without.

  • Public housing, childcare assistance, and social safety nets? Starved to death.

If you’re middle class:

  • You’ll see a tiny tax break—$500–$1,000—but lose more in services, rising healthcare costs, and housing instability.

  • Green energy tax cuts vanish, and so do incentives to lower your electric bill.

If you’re wealthy:

Congratulations. You win. Again.
